Meet your Midwives
Adiah Oyefesobi, CNM
I’m Mississippi born but Texas raised. I relocated to North Carolina in 2019 and it could not have been a better decision. My husband, Yomi, and I reside in Mebane, North Carolina with our son and daughter. Since I was young, I have always served the needs of others. I am passionate about birth and the right to choose your path. My story is not complicated. I honestly don’t know when or how I ended up serving the needs of women. My maternal and paternal grandmothers were granny home birth midwives so maybe it’s in the genes. My birth story was less than optimal so maybe my commitment stems from a need to make sure others have a better experience. Whatever the reason, I know I am dedicated to helping you have the home birth of your dreams!
I received my Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Baylor University. I spent about 3 years as an Emergency Department nurse before seeking my master’s degree. I attended Texas Woman’s University and finished with a Masters of Science in Nursing and was certified as a Womens Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) in 2008. After practicing as a WHNP for about 8 years I decided to return to midwifery school. I completed post-graduate work at Texas Tech University and became a Certified Nurse Midwife in 2017. I have a total of 16 years of experience in womens health. I have attended over 500 births in a variety of settings, including home birth.
Kristina Boyd, CNM
My strong desire to work in community birth led my family to move to North Carolina in 2017, where I began working at a freestanding birth center. I first worked with midwives as a Labor & Delivery RN in Georgia while my husband served in the Navy. By witnessing the midwifery model of care through the lens of the nurse supporting women and as a client, my spark for midwifery began. I am committed to serving women and families by protecting the sacred birth space and partnering with you for your home birth.
I received my nursing degree from South Georgia College in May 2009 and began working in the hospital mother/baby unit. My career has included working in Labor & Delivery, Level II NICU, well-baby nursery, and as a hospital-based lactation consultant. I attended Frontier Nursing University, completing the Master of Science in Nurse-Midwifery program in June 2022, becoming a certified nurse-midwife in North Carolina. I have over 13 years of experience in caring for women both in and out of the hospital. I have guided over 200 babies into the world. I look forward to serving you and your family.
My husband and I have been married for 17 years and live with our boys, Luke (12) and Levi (9), in Cary. I enjoy reading and sitting on the porch in my free time and our family always enjoys some healthy competition in the form of a board game. I find that each stage of parenting and season of life brings new lessons both personally and professionally.
Ambar Montero-Diaz, RN
I am a native Spanish speaker, originally from the Dominican Republic and enjoy working with Hispanic/Latino mothers and families. I am a registered nurse with experience in labor and delivery and newborn transition. After spending nearly 4 years in the hospital, I confirmed within I wanted to be a homebirth midwife. My time in the hospital has helped me hone skills in all phases of high and low risk pregnancy and labor. I plan to use these skills to assist woman with having a low intervention birth in the out of hospital setting. I am currently studying at Eastern Carolina University to be a certified nurse midwife. I bring passion and a strong will for birthing mothers to have a safe comfortable environment for their pregnancy and birth experience. I believe in physiologic birth and the ability in a woman’s body to birth. I feel very fortunate to be a part of the story of so many birthing moms.
My partner and I currently reside in Durham, NC. We are parents to Apollo, our 1 year old boxer and our shih tzu, Moses, who is 8 years old. I enjoy traveling, playing with my dogs, and learning more about herbal medicine.
