Meet the Midwives

Adiah midwife at Special Beginnings Midwifery in Durham, NC

Adiah Oyefesobi, CNM

Adiah Oyefesobi is a Certified Nurse Midwife. She  is known for her calm, steady presence. She brings over 15 years of experience in women’s health.

Her care is rooted in a deep respect for physiologic birth and personalized, relationship-centered support.

Adiah began her career as an emergency department nurse before transitioning into women’s health as a nurse practitioner, caring for women across the lifespan. Her journey ultimately led her back to midwifery, where she could provide more intentional, individualized care.

Her connection to birth is also deeply personal. She comes from a lineage of midwives, with grandmothers who attended home births in their communities—shaping her early understanding of birth as both a clinical event and a sacred, transformative experience.

She has attended hundreds of births across hospital and home settings and is known for her ability to balance clinical skill with intuitive, compassionate care. Her clients often describe her presence as grounding, attentive, and quietly reassuring.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Baylor University, completed her Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner training at Texas Woman’s University, and later received her midwifery education from Texas Tech University.

Outside of her work, Adiah enjoys traveling, spending time with her husband and children, and remaining active in her church community.

Kristina midwife at Special Beginnings Midwifery in Durham, NC

Krissy’s path into midwifery began while working as a labor and delivery nurse, where she witnessed firsthand the impact of compassionate, individualized care. That experience—both as a nurse and as a mother—shaped her commitment to the midwifery model.

Her background includes labor and delivery, postpartum care, NICU, and lactation support, allowing her to confidently care for a wide range of clinical situations while still honoring physiologic birth.

Krissy is known for her strength, resilience, and ability to remain steady in both calm and complex moments. She walks alongside families with both clinical expertise and genuine compassion, ensuring they feel supported throughout their experience.

She completed her Certified Nurse Midwife training at Frontier Nursing University in 2022.

Outside of her work, Krissy enjoys spending time with her husband, Zach, and their 2 sons.
